The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has planned to hold the remaining Pakistan Super League (PSL) 6 matches in June 2021.

According to the official press release by the PCB, the cricket board and the franchises are intending to reschedule the remaining 20 matches for June 2021 in Karachi.

In a virtual meeting held on Thursday afternoon, this decision came under consideration by the six franchise owners and the cricket board.

June emerged as the most preferred and practical window due to Pakistan men’s national cricket team’s international commitments in March/April and late August/September, the statement by the cricket board said.

The remaining 20 matches in June are now being planned following the men’s national cricket team’s return from Zimbabwe on May 13 and before their departure for England on June 26.

The PCB management will now look into the operational and logistical challenges and revert to the franchise owners and stakeholders.

Earlier, PCB Chief Executive (CEO) Wasim Khan, had addressed a press conference and stated that today is a sad day for all the PSL fans and the management.

Wasim Khan had said, “It’s a very challenging day for us [PCB], cricket lovers, stakeholders, players and officials involved.”

He further added, “Health and safety of the players are above everything so we came to the conclusion that it is best to postpone the event.”

“Biosecure bubble is all about trust and discipline. Building trust will take some time but we make sure this doesn’t happen again. Postponing PSL is a difficult moment for PCB and fans too but we PCB are resilient to make PSL6 possible again,” Khan went on to add.

He also maintained that the rising number of COVID-19 cases was a collective fault and it is not the time to blame anyone.
