After the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) called off on March 4, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB’s) medical panel Dr Sohail Saleem has resigned from his post.

This move came after the rules and regulations in the ‘bio-secure bubble’ were violated and resulted in the postponement of PSL 6.

According to sources, Dr Sohail has sent his resignation to the PCB chairman Ehsan Mani. “We are considering Dr Sohail’s resignation request,” PCB said.

The cricket board further added, “Dr Sohail has to serve a notice period of one month and has to assist in an ongoing investigation which led to the postponement of PSL 6.”

Previously, the PCB had announced to put off the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after a rising number of Coronavirus cases among the players.

In this regard, the PCB Chief Executive (CEO) Wasim Khan, had addressed a press conference and stated that today is a sad day for all the PSL fans and the management.

Wasim Khan had said, “It’s a very challenging day for us [PCB], cricket lovers, stakeholders, players and officials involved.”

“Biosecure bubble is all about trust and discipline. Building trust will take some time but we make sure this doesn’t happen again. Postponing PSL is a difficult moment for PCB and fans too but we PCB are resilient to make PSL6 possible again,” Wasim Khan had added.

He also maintained that the rising number of COVID-19 cases was a collective fault and it is not the time to blame anyone.
