Pakistani skipper Babar Azam set to become top ODI batsman in the world in newly updated ICC rankings.

As per reports, Babar Azam will push back Indian skipper Virat Kohli in batsman ODI rankings.

However, the rankings were not updated as the ICC updates its tables on Wednesdays at 1:00 pm.

As per cricket statistician and journalist Mazher Arshad, Azam needed 70 or more runs in the final ODI against South Africa to claim the top spot.

In the third ODI against South Africa skipper Babar did just what he needs and also help his team to secure series over Proteas. He had scored 94 from 62 balls with three sixes and seven fours.

Earlier, Babar Azam has achieved another milestone as he became Pakistan’s fastest batsman to achieve the 6000-run landmark in the first T20I match against South Africa.

Babar Azam joins queue with West Indies Chris Gayle as he became the second person in the world to achieve this feat. Chris Gayle had hit 6,000 runs back in 2014.
