Sri Lankan players to get their first dose of AstraZeneca on Sunday

The national team of Sri Lanka will get the first corona vaccine next Sunday, as was disclosed by Prof. Arjuna de Silva, the chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket (board) management committee.

Prof. Arjuna said in his statement that,

“The players will be called at the Health ministry campus on April 11 and the first dose of vaccination to them is scheduled on the same day”.

“They will be given India-made AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine”.

“We have also planned the second dose of vaccine after 2-3 months. The entire national squad (Test players and the Limited Over players) and the support staff will be given the vaccine”, De Silva further added.

Earlier, Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera has become the first batsman to hit six sixes in an over while playing in a domestic match.

According to the reports, Perera achieved this feat while playing a domestic cricket match for his team Sri Lankan army against his opponent team Bloomfield.

He smashed 52 runs off 13 balls, he cleared the boundary almost eight times.

Thisara is the second player to hit six sixes this year, earlier, Kieron Pollard of West Indies hit six sixes off Sri Lanka’s Akila Dananjaya in a T20 international in Antigua.

Perera joins the list of players to hit six sixes in an over previous players who achieved this feat include Garfield Sobers, Ravi Shastri, Herschelle Gibbs, Yuvraj Singh, Ross Whiteley, Hazratullah Zazai, Leo Carter, and Pollard.
