Tokyo Olympics 2020: Turkey claim First-Ever Gold Medal Win In Archery

Turkish archer Mete Gazoz has bagged the first gold medal for Turkey in the men’s individual archery final at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

22 years old archer Mete Gazoz brought his country its first-ever Olympic medal by facing world no. 7 Italian archer Mauro Nespoli in the final.

Gazoz got the match by 6-4 and won a gold medal.

Prior to this, in the semifinal, Gazoz faced Japanese archer Takaharu Furukawa and won the semifinal match 7-3 to reach the final.

Note that, world no. 4 Mete Gazoz has two individual Archery World Cup championships, one gold medal in recurve man at Mediterranean Games and has two gold medals in individual at European Youth Championships throughout his career.
