Norwegian downhill and super-G specialist Kjetil Jansrud declared his season done on Wednesday after injuring a knee ligament in a fall at Beaver Creek, the Norwegian Ski Federation announced Wednesday.

“The season is over as far as I’m concerned, but I’m motivated to do what needs to be done to come back,” said the 36-year-old in a federation statement.

The 2014 downhill gold medallist will miss the Beijing Olympics which are scheduled to start on February 4.

Jansrud crashed in the super-G on Friday in Beaver Creek, sliding into a fence, bouncing into the air and coming to rest clutching a knee.

The statement said he would undergo surgery at “the end of next week”.
