According to the Irish Independent, McGregor was then arrested and taken to the police station in Lucan before being bailed.

The car of The Notorious was reportedly seized at the scene before being returned to the former two-division UFC champion.

McGregor is said to have been summoned to Blanchardstown district court in April after being fined around £330 for speeding at the same location in 2017.

A local police spokesman confirmed to the Irish Independent that a man had been detained “in connection with the incident.”

“Gardai arrested a man in his 30s in relation to an incident of dangerous driving in the Palmerstown area yesterday evening, Tuesday 22nd March 2022,” read the full statement.

“The man was arrested and taken to the Lucan Garda Station, where he was later charged.” He has been released pending a later appearance in Blanchardstown District Court.”

According to the Irish Independent, a dangerous driving charge in Ireland can result in fines of up to £4,100 and up to six months in prison.

McGregor has a history of driving convictions and pleaded guilty to common assault in 2019.

The MMA fighter was fined approximately £830.

McGregor has recently spent a lot of time in his home country working his way back to full fitness after breaking his leg at UFC 264.

Due to the nature of his injury, the fighter has reportedly bulked up to 190 pounds, having been largely limited to weight training.

He is expected to make a competitive return later this year, and has recently discussed a fight with 170lb champ and pound-for-pound king Kamaru Usman.

Following that, the Nigerian appeared to mock McGregor’s request, tweeting, “You guys want a murder scene in the octagon?”

Over the weekend, UFC president Dana White confirmed that McGregor would be flying to Las Vegas to discuss his next opponent.

“He’s coming into Vegas, we’re getting together, and we’re going to talk,” the American said. We’ll see what happens next.

“Any Conor fight is a good financial bet.”
