Travis Head made his first ODI comeback with a scorching century in the first game of their three-match series in Lahore on Tuesday, helping Australia to a comfortable 88-run victory against Pakistan.
In his first ODI since November 2018, opener Head smashed 12 boundaries and three sixes in a 72-ball 101 to help Australia reach 313-7. Ben McDermott (55) too got in on the act, scoring his first ODI fifty.
At one point, Australia appeared to be on track for a higher total, but spinners Zahid Mahmood (2-59) and Khushdil Shah (1-50) brought Pakistan back in the middle overs, until Cameron Green’s (40 not out) late burst propelled Australia above 300.
