LAHORE: Mitchell Marsh, Australia’s T20 World Cup star, has been ruled out of the remaining limited-over matches in Pakistan due to a hip injury, his country announced Wednesday.

The 30-year-old all-rounder was anticipated to play a vital role in the three-match One-Day International series, but he was ruled out of the first game, which the visitors won on Tuesday.

“Marsh will leave the Australian squad in Pakistan to continue his recovery from a low-grade hip flexor injury and would not be available for remaining three matches,” Cricket Australia said in a statement.

“I am disappointed to miss the Pakistan series but look forward to rejoining the Australian squad for our next tour,” Marsh said.

Positive Covid-19 tests for two Australian players, Josh Inglis and Ashton Agar, have ruled them out of the ongoing ODI series.

After a crushing 88-run triumph over Pakistan in the first match, Australia leads the series 1-0.

The remaining matches will take place in Lahore on Thursday and Saturday.

On April 5, Australia will play a single Twenty20 international at Lahore.
