KARACHI: Shoaib Akhtar, a former speedster, has slammed Pakistan’s approach in the ongoing second Test against Australia at National Stadium Karachi.

On Day 3, the hosts had a nightmare with the bat, being skittled out for 148 in 53 overs thanks to Mitchell Starc’s reverse swinging master class. When the third day’s play was completed, Australia was 81/1 in their second innings, leading Pakistan by 489 runs.

In an interview with a local news channel, the Rawalpindi Express stated, “When you play with fear, this will happen […] only issuing good statements will not help you.”

Making such slow pitches, according to Shoaib Akhtar, is not a good advertisement for our cricket.

“If you make such wickets, who will be interested in playing here.”

Cummins chose to bat on Day 3 with Australia on 505-8.

Fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi struck with the second delivery of the day, catching Starc at cover by Azhar without adding to his overnight 28.

But that was their only success, as Cummins (34 not out) and Swepson (15) put up a quick 51 for the ninth wicket before declaring.

With 2-55 from 21 overs, all-rounder Ashraf was the standout of the attack, while off-spinner Sajid Khan took 2-167 from 57 overs.
