Abid Ali wishes to play in next series

Pakistani opener Abid Ali has been declared medically fit by doctors, The News reported.

Ali, who suffered from a heart ailment, now hopes to play the next series in line for the national team.

While talking to the media at the National High-Performance Centre Lahore, Ali said that the pain he felt while suffering a heart attack was unimaginable.

He said that he was shocked at what had happened. “My life changed in an instant. Then there came a time when I thought maybe now my career is over but I didn’t ponder much on it and remained focused on recovery,” he added.

While talking about time before recovery, he said that he was doing well when he returned from the Bangladesh tour to play domestic cricket.

All of a sudden he underwent heart surgery. He added: “I was shocked but everyone encouraged me. Doctors, Pakistan Cricket Board officials and players gave me confidence.”

The Test cricketer is now under rehabilitation as per doctors’ instructions. He also has started his training.

“The doctors have declared me fit to play. I am sure that I will be in action in the next series,” Ali said.
