Shaan Masood became the first Pakistani cricketer in the County Championship to score back-to-back double centuries.

The Pakistani opener is representing the county cricket club Derbyshire.

He played a blistering inning of 219 off 239 balls to register his second double century against Leicestershire on Friday. He scored his debut double century against Sussex in his previous match.

While he became the first Pakistani cricketer to achieve the feat in English cricket, in first-class cricket, he is the second batter after Arshad Parvez, who had scored 243 (vs Baluchistan) and 236 (vs MCB) in BCCP Patron’s Trophy in 1978.

Nawab Iftikharuddin was the only Asian batter before Masood, who scored consecutive double centuries in the county cricket in 1933, where he scored 231 and 234 while playing for Worcestershire.

Masood was not considered for home Tests against Australia. However, he has proven to be in the best form of his career. The left-arm batter has amassed 611 runs in just 4 innings at an average of 152.65.
