Conor Gallagher’s loan will be extended, according to Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish, who also disclosed that a deal for Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek is being considered.

Gallagher has had a fantastic season on loan at Selhurst Park, scoring eight goals and assisting three times in the Premier League.

Chelsea are already considering keeping Gallagher at Stamford Bridge next season, despite the fact that the 22-year-old will be up against N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic, and Mason Mount for a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s midfield.

Loftus-Cheek, in the meantime, is striving for a more regular part in the team and has strengthened his prospects with a goal in Chelsea’s 2-0 FA Cup semi-final win over Palace on Sunday.

Parish has stated that if Gallagher continues at Chelsea next season, he will chase a move for Loftus-Cheek, who spent last season on loan at Palace.

Parish told a foreign sports website that the fight for slots in Chelsea’s team could work in Palace’s favor if they want to keep Gallagher for another season.

“However, the player is the most important person. He understands what his priorities are and what he’s doing.”

“At the end of the season, I’m certain. Conor will figure out what he feels is the best course of action for him, and that will be the catalyst. Of course, if there’s a chance to get him or even Ruben Loftus-Cheek”, he added.

‘These are excellent players, and having him here this year has been fantastic, not just because of what he does on the pitch.  Also, because of the way he conducts himself in public, with the media and supporters, and because of how unique a young man he is.’

Meanwhile, Loftus-Cheek believes he has finally overcome his injury concerns after dealing with a slew of them throughout his career.

‘I’ve always believed I’m capable of representing England. It’s simply that I’ve had to put it out of my mind for a time. It was just because I didn’t feel ready,’ Loftus-Cheek explained.

‘I wasn’t feeling my best, and I wasn’t confident in my own skin. Now I can confidently assert that my body does not go through my head.’

“I’m in good shape. I’m confident in my abilities. I’m in a hurry. And I’ve never had any doubts about that.”

‘I simply want to get started, but I have to take things one day at a time, game by game.’ Okay, it’s in the back of your mind or in your skull, but it’s not your primary focus’, he added.
