Despite a thumb injury, Joel Embiid played in the 76ers’ Game 4 loss to the Toronto Raptors. He had 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists in the 110-102 loss to Toronto.

Despite the pain, the Sixers star believes he can play through the playoffs.

Embiid will have an MRI on his injured thumb on Sunday but will wait until the playoffs are over to have surgery.  The NBA’s leading scorer played through a sore right thumb in Game 3, with a torn ligament being suspected. On Saturday, Sixers coach Doc Rivers expressed “concern” but did not confirm Embiid’s thumb ligament tear.

“I think we already know what it is, to be honest, but we just got to make sure,” Rivers said, confirming that Embiid will get an MRI when the team returns to Philadelphia.

“The one thing we know is it can’t get worse,” he said.
