Joel Embiid scored 33 points to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a 132-97 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Thursday, clinching a 4-2 NBA playoff series triumph.

The Sixers came roaring back to beat the Raptors with a great effort in Toronto, sending them into an Eastern Conference semi-final series against the top-seeded Miami Heat after wasting two chances to capture a series they had led 3-0.

Embiid, who has been plagued by torn ligaments in his thumb in previous games, put on a strong performance with 10 rebounds, three blocks, and two steals.

Tyrese Maxey backed up Embiid with 25 points, while James Harden also had a great game with 22 points, 15 assists, and six rebounds.

“As soon as we lost game five and knew we were going back to Toronto, we knew it was going to be a fight,” Maxey said afterwards.

“Whether we get hit in the mouth we get back up and keep fighting, and that’s what we did tonight.

“I just knew I had to be extremely aggressive. Joel (Embiid) told me on the plane on the way up here ‘We lose if we don’t be aggressive.’ And that’s what I tried to do.”

After two hard-fought quarters, the Sixers took a 62-61 advantage into halftime.

However, following the break, Philadelphia went on a tear, outscoring Toronto 37-17 in the third quarter to virtually seal the game.

In the fourth quarter, the Sixers kept the pressure on, never allowing Toronto to go close to Philadelphia’s double-digit lead.

Tobias Harris scored 19 points for Philadelphia, while Danny Green scored 12 points.
