Wasim Khan, former Chief Executive of Pakistan Cricket Board, has been named the ICC General Manager – Cricket.

On Friday, International Cricket Council (ICC) verified the news.

Khan succeeds Geoff Allardice, who held the role for eight years before being promoted to Chief Executive Officer of the International Cricket Council.

Khan has previously held the positions of Chief Executive of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Leicestershire County Cricket Club, and Chance to Shine, and will begin serving as General Manager next month.

“I am honored to be joining the ICC, and I can’t wait to get started and work in conjunction with our Members to strengthen and expand our sport,” he said of his appointment as General Manager.

“ICC’s dedication to the advancement of the women’s game particularly excites me.”

“In 2017, we were fortunate enough to host a number of ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup matches at Leicestershire, which was such a historic event in the game’s history.”

“I’m looking forward to helping to accelerate that progress over the next ten years”, he added.

“I am thrilled to welcome Wasim to ICC,” Allardice stated.

“He offers a deep understanding of our sport and its stakeholders, as well as firsthand experience of the world cricket scene, which will be invaluable as we implement the ICC global expansion strategy and enter a new events cycle.”
