IPL 2022: Delhi Capitals under quarantine amid Covid crisis

Delhi Capitals have canceled today’s scheduled flight to Pune ahead of their second IPL 2022 game due to a Covid outbreak risk.
The squad will be quarantined in their rooms today and tomorrow, with door-to-door Covid-19 tests scheduled.
Patrick Farhart, the team’s physiotherapist, had already been quarantined after testing positive.
A player and a team masseuse have both tested positive on the Rapid Antigen Test and will be subjected to additional RT-PCR tests to validate the results.
Following the new development, there has been talk of delaying their next match, which is scheduled for Wednesday against Punjab Kings (April 20).
The schedule, however, remains unaltered, according to sources. “We haven’t heard of any changes to the program,” claimed various sources, “and the situation in the Delhi camp is now manageable.”
The Delhi Capitals will play Punjab Kings on April 20 and Rajasthan Royals on April 22 in Pune, in a back-to-back series.
In the IPL’s playing conditions, provisions have been made to accommodate any unanticipated Covid difficulties.
BCCI has said in the operational guidelines distributed to the teams that if a team is unable to field 12 players, efforts shall be taken to postpone the game.
If those efforts are unsuccessful, the case will be referred to a technical committee.
