Harry Maguire, captain of Manchester United, received a bomb threat, prompting police to examine his home in northern England.

Maguire, his fiancée Fern Hawkins, and their two children live on the property.

“A bomb threat was reported to Cheshire Police,” police stated in a statement.

“There were no evacuations, but a police explosives dog was dispatched to the home today afternoon, Thursday 21 April, to undertake a search of the gardens and surrounding area as a precaution.”

Following United’s 4-0 loss to Liverpool in the Premier League on Tuesday, there has been an increase in the use of inflammatory language directed against Maguire.

“Obviously, Harry’s number one priority is the safety of his family and those around him,” England defender’s management company stated.

“He will continue to prepare as usual for this weekend’s match, and we will make no additional comments at this time.”

On Saturday, United will travel to Arsenal for their next match.
