Maria Sharapova, who won all four grand slam tennis titles during her career, turned 35 on Tuesday, but the day will be remembered for more than one reason as she announced she and fiancée Alexander Gilkes are expecting their first child.

The former tennis player flaunted her little bump while standing at the beach in an Instagram photo.

“Precious beginnings,” she captioned the photograph. “I’ve always been known for eating birthday cake for two.”

Sharapova confirmed her engagement to British businessman Gilkes in December 2020, barely two years after retiring from tennis.

Gilkes was frequently seen in Sharapova’s playing box towards the end of her career, and the two have been dating since 2018.

Sharapova’s declaration elicited a simple heart-eye emoji from Gilkes.

During her career, the former world No. 1 was one of the most well-known tennis players in the world.

She is one of just ten women in history to win all four grand slam titles, with a total of five major titles.

Donna Veki knocked her out in the first round of the 2020 Australian Open, which was her last appearance.

According to the WTA website, Sharapova has won more than $38 million in prize money during her career.
