PCB unveils next 12 months schedule for men’s, women’s teams

Pakistan cricket team have been busy for the past few months and it seems that the upcoming 12 months will also be full of domestic and international tours and leagues.

The Men in Green are scheduled to play seven Tests, 17 one-day internationals and 25 T20Is in the coming 12 months after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) unveiled the schedule.

The seven ICC World Test Championship matches will be played against three opponents — Sri Lanka (2), England (3), and New Zealand (2).

12 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League matches, three with each team, will be played against West Indies, Sri Lanka, the Netherlands, and New Zealand, according to a statement released by the cricket board (three each).

The Pakistan men’s team will compete in the ACC Asia Cup T20 in August and September, as well as the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Australia 2022 from October 15 to November 15, where they will play at least five T20Is each.

Outside the two events, their other T20Is will be against England (seven), West Indies (three) and New Zealand (five).

The Kiwis will also play five T20Is along with five ODIs scheduled in 2023.

 

Women’s cricket team schedule

The women’s team also have a jam-packed schedule for the next 12 months. This will be a good opportunity for them to polish there skills and show their talents to the world.

The women’s team will compete in three ICC Women’s Championship series matches, including home and away matches against Sri Lanka, Ireland, and Australia, as well as the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, the 19th Asian Games in Guangzhou, the ACC Women’s T20 Cup (venue TBC), the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2023 South Africa, and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 South Africa.

The participation of the Pakistan Shaheens in the 19th Asian Games has been confirmed till now.

Efforts are being made to add a few more series for the Shaheens so that players who are vying for a spot in the national team have more opportunities.

 

More international cricket

In comparison to the previous 2021-22 season, there is more international cricket for both men’s and women’s teams.

The men’s teams from the West Indies, England, and New Zealand will all visit Pakistan twice, while the women’s teams from Sri Lanka and Ireland will visit in May and June and October and November, respectively.

In addition to the thrilling and back-to-back international cricket, the domestic cricket season in 2022-23 will run concurrently with the international season. Between September 2021 and April 2022, the PCB delivered 314 matches in 12 competitions during the 2021-22 season.
