Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja is awaiting the signal of the newly-formed government ahead of making any decision about his duties.

The talks of change began after Imran Khan was ousted from office by a no-confidence vote on Sunday, becoming the country’s first prime minister to be deposed by a parliamentary revolt.

After a change of power, as history shows, a change of PCB Chairman is also required.

Former PCB Chairman Najam Sethi waited till the PML-N government was no longer in power before stepping down. He also offered a favorable job to Zakir Khan, a close associate of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, but he declined after receiving no response from the PTI government in 2018.

Ramiz was expected to retire by Monday evening, according to reports.

In response to the question about resignation, Ramiz responded that he was not going to resign until the new government’s decision.

According to reports, the new government is facing a slew of fresh issues, thus they are hesitant to make a hasty choice on the PCB Chairman.

Najam Sethi, on the other hand, is ready to take over as Chairman of the PCB. Ramiz will resign as chairman as soon as he realizes there is no sense in staying.
