Young Pakistani bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi said that the home series against Australia was a tough one on the field, but off the field, it was fun and relaxed.

During the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) 39th podcast, Shaheen, along with Marnus Labuschagne and former player Javed Miandad, talked about the historic tour of Australia to Pakistan, which happened after 24 years.

Shaheen said that the tour was a tough one on the field. He further added that it helped reduce the gap between players of both sides too.

While off the field, players of both teams enjoyed the time together.

“This series has brought players from either side closer than ever. We visited Australia in 2019 and also met their players during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, but almost six weeks together has helped bridge the gap. There were tough moments on the field of play, but off the field, everything was easy, relaxed, and friendly.

When asked about the incident with David Warner, Shaheen responded that the “light-hearted” incident drew social media reactions, which he liked.

“The incident with David Warner turned out to be an amusing one. It was the last ball of the day and I came very close to David on my follow-through. David has a good sense of humor, so he also stayed there and it made a great shot for the photographers. It was a light-hearted incident and it stayed that way, but both David and I enjoyed the social media reaction in the days that followed,” he added.

The Aussies won the Test series 1-0 while the Green Shirts claimed the ODI series 2-1.

The visiting team also won the one-off T20I by 3 wickets.
