Shahbaz Sharif was elected as the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan. Former skipper Shahid Afridi shared his thoughts about it.

Taking to Twitter, Afridi, said: “Congratulations to Shahbaz Sharif on being elected the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan,” the all-rounder and star cricketer said in a tweet.

“…I hope that he will be able to use his management skills to bring Pakistan out of the current economic and political crisis,” the ex-captain said.

Shehbaz amassed 174 votes, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Shah Mehmood Qureshi received no votes after his party’s decision to boycott the elections.

The election was held under the supervision of MNA Ayaz Sadiq, two days after the lower house of Parliament voted to remove Prime Minister Imran Khan from office, ending a nearly 14-hour impasse between the Opposition and Khan’s ruling party that began on Saturday morning.
