In a meeting later this week in Dubai, The board of the International Cricket Committee (ICC) will finalize the process of electing the new Chairman of ICC. There seems to be an ambivalence around whether the current Chairman Greg Barclay will continue or should he choose not to.

There have been many reports on Barclay’s decision to either continue in the role of the ICC Chairman or not. According to the constitution of ICC, he is currently eligible to contest two more times.

Barclay’s decision to either continue or not should be known by 9Th of May, when the candidates will be nominated for the position. Just as last year, the candidates will be required to have two proposers from the 12 full members of the ICC and will be presenting their vision for the world body. The elections will be held on June 10th. The candidate getting the two-third votes of the 15-member board will be the winner.

The process is expected to be formally approved at this week’s meeting to kick-start the election process. The new Chairman will assume office at the annual conference of the ICC, to be held in Birmingham in July.
