The US Soccer Federation announced Wednesday that the United States (USA) will host Uruguay in a 2022 World Cup warm-up match on June 5 in Kansas City.

The Americans have a 2-2 record against La Celeste, with three draws, the most recent match being a 1-1 draw in St. Louis in 2019.

On June 1, US coach Gregg Berhalter’s team will face Morocco in Cincinnati before facing an Uruguay roster that includes all-time leading scorer Luis Suarez of Atletico Madrid and Edinson Cavani of Manchester United.

“We’re looking forward to facing another high-level opponent that is also preparing for the World Cup. Uruguay has some world-class talent and is one of the top teams in South America,” Berhalter said.

“These are the kinds of opportunities we need to continue to grow as a group and set ourselves up to be successful in Qatar.”

Following their meeting against the South American team, the Americans will play Grenada in a CONCACAF Nations League match on June 10 in Austin, Texas, and then travel to El Salvador four days later.

Uruguay advanced to the 2018 World Cup quarterfinals, when they were defeated by eventual champion France. Uruguay was placed in Group H this year, alongside Ghana, South Korea, and Portugal.

In Group B, the USA will face England, Iran, and either Scotland, Wales, or Ukraine.
