Mustafizur Rahman has been requested to participate in all three forms during the West Indies tour in June by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Mustafizur, who is now playing for the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has yet to respond to the board’s recommendation.

The left-arm paceman has only played 14 of Bangladesh’s 39 Tests since his debut in 2015. He publicly confessed that he planned to reduce his workload by choosing formats. Fizz’s name resurfaced ahead of a red-ball assignment with the injuries to pacers Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam, both of whom are doubtful to return for the West Indies Tests anytime soon.

“We have been thinking about it and we want Mustafizur to take part in all three formats from the West Indies series,” BCB sources said.

Mustafizur made his ODI debut in 2015

Mustafizur Rahman, sometimes known as ‘The Fizz,’ is a Bangladeshi left-arm fast bowler who can confound batsmen with his subtle variations. He drew prominence in his first ODI against India in 2015, when he took a fifer to lead Bangladesh to a remarkable victory.

Mustafizur Rahman is the only bowler in international cricket history to win Player of the Match in both his ODI and Test debuts. Rahman was selected for Bangladesh’s Under-19 team for the 2014 World Cup and grabbed nine wickets in six games.

Mustafizur not only made it to the top level of the Bangladesh national team following that, but he also secured a contract with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016. In his inaugural IPL season, the left-arm seamer stole the show, collecting 17 wickets in 16 games to win the ‘Emerging Player of the Tournament’ award. He is currently a member of DC’s IPL 2022 team.
