The flowers are fully bloomed, the weather is warming up, and school is winding down. That can only mean one thing: the Women’s College World Series in 2022 is approaching.

Oklahoma, the defending NCAA Division I softball champion, appears to be on track for another long run in the tournament. With a 49-2 record, the Sooners are the No. 1 overall seed in this year’s bracket. Oklahoma has to be regarded the tournament favorite, led by the trio of sophomore Tiare Jennings, seniors Grace Lyons and Jocelyn Alo — the latter the NCAA’s all-time home run leader.

However, the collegiate softball landscape is brimming with talent. The tournament’s 64 teams will attempt to impress on the diamond and advance to the super regionals, which will be held May 26-29 in Oklahoma City.

The NCAA announced the full softball tournament bracket on May 15, including the 16 host locations and the best teams in the country.

Each team is paired with three other schools in a mini tournament. The top seed in each bracket will face the fourth seed, while the second seed will face the third seed. Teams will play at least two games.

Before being sent home, teams must play at least two games. Meanwhile, to move from the regional level to the super regionals, a team must win three games. With the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City just one step away, the fantasy of collegiate softball glory becomes more tangible.
