Jordan Henderson took over as Liverpool captain in 2015, inheriting a challenging task at a club that had only won one major prize since 2010.

According to an international sports website, Liverpool’s FA Cup final victory over Chelsea, which went to a penalty shootout, was the club’s first FA Cup victory since 2006, and it made Liverpool the first club to win the League Cup and FA Cup in the same season multiple times, joining Arsenal (’92 and ’93), Chelsea (’06 and ’07), and Manchester City (’18 and ’19).

It was also an opportunity for Henderson to win his sixth trophy as Liverpool captain, making him the first Liverpool captain to do so.

In addition to Saturday’s FA Cup victory at Wembley Stadium in London, Henderson has captained teams that have won the Champions League, Premier League, EFL Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.

After the game, 31-year-old told the website that assisting his club win the title was a rewarding moment in the Reds’ historic season.

“This is a big moment for us since we haven’t been in this final in a long time,” Henderson added.

On the 150th anniversary of soccer’s oldest cup competition, Liverpool won.

While Henderson and Liverpool will relish their victory, they still have three crucial matches ahead of them, including the Champions League final at the end of May and two Premier League meetings in which they aim to overtake Manchester City’s three-point lead at the top.

Liverpool’s chances of becoming the first English team to win the domestic triple and a European title in the same season are modest, but Saturday’s FA Cup victory keeps the slim hopes alive.
