French Open: Emma Raducanu lose; Cameron Norrie triumphs

Emma Raducanu, the British number one, lost in the second round of the French Open after failing to convert a one-set lead.

Raducanu, 19, was defeated by Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.

Cameron Norrie became the first British singles player to reach the third round this year later on Wednesday.

Norrie, seeded 10th, defeated Australia’s Jason Kubler 6-3 6-4 6-3 to reach the last 32 for the second year in a row on the Paris clay.

In the fourth round, Norrie will face Karen Khachanov, the 21st seed.

When he plays on Thursday, British number two Dan Evans hopes to join Norrie.

Raducanu’s elimination means that no British women remain in the singles draw, as Heather Watson and Harriet Dart were eliminated in the first round.
