Daniil Medvedev, the second seed, advanced to the third round of the French Open by defeating Laslo Djere of Serbia.

On Thursday, the 26-year-old US Open winner won a simple 6-3 6-4 6-3 triumph on Court Philippe Chatrier.

The Russian will face Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic, the 28th seed, who defeated Alexander Bublik in four sets.

“It was a difficult match, but I’m glad I won. I still have a lot of work to do in order to be remembered, “Medvedev stated the following.

“Laslo was playing a little better clay-court tennis than me, but I was able to get one more ball in.”

After defeating Argentina’s Facundo Bagnis 6-2 6-2 6-2 in the first round, Medvedev, who had a hernia operation in April, has now won both of his matches in three sets.

Medvedev, who was participating under a neutral flag in Paris, is one of the players who will be unable to compete at Wimbledon this year due to the ban on Russian and Belarusian players imposed following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
