Jayson Tatum ranked sixth for Kia’s Most Valuable Player Award

All-Star Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum finished sixth overall in voting for the 2022 Kia Most Valuable Player award, receiving 8 fourth-place votes and 19 fifth-place votes for a total of 43 points from a panel of 100 sportswriters and broadcasters.

Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets (875 total points) won the award, followed by Joel Embiid of Philadelphia 76ers (706 points), Giannis Antetokounmpo of Milwaukee Bucks (595 points), Devin Booker of  Phoenix Suns (216 points), and Luka Doncic of Dallas Mavericks (146 total points).

The balloting, conducted by independent accounting firm Ernst and Young LLP, is the first to place Tatum in the top ten, though we doubt it will be his last if the St. Louis native continues to improve his game as he has thus far in his career.
