Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce of Jamaica won the women’s 100m in Nairobi in 10.67 seconds, the quickest time so far this year.

Only four other ladies have run the distance quicker.

After Namibia’s Christine Mboma, the Olympic silver medalist in the 200m, pulled up, Fraser-Pryce won convincingly on Saturday.

“This is something I’ve been doing for 13 years. I establish new records every time I run; it’s unbelievable “said the 35-year-old.

Fraser-performance Pryce’s in the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi, Kenya, was just a fraction slower than her personal best of 10.60, which she recorded last August in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The only women who have ever run quicker are Americans Marion Jones (10.65) and Carmelita Jeter (10.64), Jamaican Elaine Thompson-Herah (10.54), and controversial world mark holder American Florence Griffith-Joyner (10.49).

Olympic champion Thompson-Herah will compete in the 100m at the Birmingham Diamond League later this month against Dina Asher-Smith of the United Kingdom.

Thompson-Herah established her 10.54 time in August 2021 and has stated that she intends to challenge Griffith-1988 Joyner’s world mark.

The World Championships, which begin on July 15 in Eugene, Oregon, will pit Fraser-Pryce against Thompson-Herah.

On Saturday, Kenyan Ferdinand Omanyala won the men’s 100m in a world-leading time of 9.85 seconds, defeating American Kerley (9.92).

Marcell Jacobs, the Olympic champion, had to withdraw at the last minute due to stomach issues.

The Italian, a surprise winner at last year’s Olympics, was set to compete for the first time since Tokyo, with silver medalist Fred Kerley.
