Nayeem Hasan has been ruled out of the second Test against Sri Lanka due to a finger injury received in the first game of the two-match series, according to Debashish Chowdhury, the Bangladesh cricket team’s senior physician.

Chowdhury further stated that the off-spinner’s chance of making it to the Test squad against West Indies appears bleak, given that he will require three to four weeks to heal from the injury.

“Nayeem will almost definitely miss the second Test against Sri Lanka after breaking his finger.”

“He will require at least three to four weeks to recover, and with that in mind, he appears unlikely to make the West Indies Test squad,” Chowdhury stated.

Meanwhile, Chowdhury is hopeful that Mehedy Hasan, who has been out of the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka owing to a finger injury sustained during the previous edition of the Dhaka Premier League, will be available for the West Indies tour.

“We opened his plaster three to four days ago, and he is now undergoing physiotherapy,” he said.

“We are hoping and confident that he will be available during the West Indies tour.”
