Snooker’s Jamie O’Neill suspended for playing inebriated and for improper way of behaving towards female staff

English snooker player Jamie O’Neill has been suspended after he was found to have played intoxicated and acted improperly towards female staff.

A grumbling made by the World Snooker Tour (WST) to the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) at last uncovered the episodes which happened at the Northern Ireland Qualifying Event in Leicester on Monday August 23, 2021.

O’Neill was said to have been tipsy on the morning of his match, offered unseemly remarks and motions toward two female individuals from staff, and afterward played his passing match while affected by liquor.

The case was heard by the autonomous WPBSA Disciplinary Committee where after a challenged hearing O’Neill was viewed as in break of the WPBSA Rules and his Players Contract.

Therefore, O’Neill – the ongoing scene No 112 – was suspended from playing or being engaged with WST occasions until August, and requested to pay a fine of £1,500 and to pay £3,200 towards the expenses of the hearings.

The 35-year-old will be suspended for the Championship League and the European Masters.

“In settling on their choice on endorse, the Committee considered that the finding of the Disciplinary Committee places Mr O’Neill in break of a suspended punishment forced by the Disciplinary Committee on 27th May 2021.

Furthermore, Mr O’Neill has penetrated two past suspended punishments forced under the WPBSA Disciplinary cycle.”
