Sergey Kovalev, a former boxing champion, returns to the ring to face Tervel Pulev, Kubrat Pulev’s brother. The Forum in Los Angeles will host the Triller Fight Club-produced event on May 14.

Kovalev began boxing at the age of eleven. In 2009, he turned pro, and in 2013, he won the WBO light-heavyweight title. In 2013, “Krusher” defeated Bernard Hopkins for the WBA and IBF light-heavyweight belts. In 2016 and again a year later, he lost his belts against Andre Ward. The WBO title was won by Kovalev, but he was defeated by Eleider Alvarez.

In 2019, Kovalev would reclaim the championship but lose it against Canelo Alvarez, who had stepped up in weight. That was his final pro fight.

Pulev, a 2012 Olympic bronze winner, turned professional in 2016. In 2019, he won the WBA International Cruiserweight Championship. Pulev returned to the ring in January 2021 after a year out, defeating Vikapita Meroro by TKO.
