Casper Ruud is a professional tennis player from Norway who attained his career high position of world No. 10 in singles on September 13, 2021.

Casper Ruud beat Marin Cilic in the semifinals to become the first Dutchman to reach the final.

Cilic took the opening set 6-3 and appeared to be the more comfortable of the two players at that time, but Ruud found some steady serving and limited the unforced errors to take control.

Ruud’s momentum was interrupted by a break midway through the third set due to a protester invading the court and attaching herself to the net, but he picked up where he left off to go up 2-1.

This came after Alexander Zverev’s first men’s semifinal of the day was cut short due to a serious ankle injury. The German was forced to withdraw after being wheeled off the court, with Rafael Nadal advancing to the final.
