Daniel Suarez wins his first career race, becoming the fifth non-American born driver to win a Cup Series race. After a frustrating couple of seasons, Suarez, who won the NASCAR Cup Series in 2016, had a huge celebration in victory lane.

skipping several pit stops along the way, before dropping to the back of the pack and working his way back up to the front. He would eventually blow a tyre in the third stage, causing his jackman to be suspended for four weeks.

Chris Buescher finished second after battling Suarez for the majority of the third stage, but Suarez never made the mistake Buescher was hoping for. His car simply outlasted the competition, giving him a huge Cup Series victory.

Several drivers, including the aforementioned Elliott and Larson, struggled to properly attach their rear tyres. The Sonoma course was difficult, with several drivers spinning into the dirt as they approached tight turns.

The year 2022 has seen four first-time winners and a total of 12 different race winners. Suarez is the latest driver to cross the finish line. The drivers will have a week off next week before the Ally 400 in Nashville on June 26.
