Humphrey Kayange is well known for his involvement in rugby sevens. He is a well-known Kenyan rugby player. The majority of people know him as a key component of the Kenyan Sevens team.

Humphrey Kayange, a decorated former Kenyan rugby international, has been appointed to the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) Executive Committee.

WADA is made up of a 38-member board of directors, which is the agency’s highest policy-making body, and a 14-member executive committee, to which the board delegated the agency’s management and operations, including asset administration.

WADA president Witold Banka confirmed the appointment, saying he was looking forward to working with the Kenyan rugby hero.

Banja wrote to Kayange, “I wished to follow up formally with relation to your recent selection to the WADA Executive Committee (ExCo), as a representative of the IOC Athletes Commission, for a three-year term beginning on June 1, 2022.”

“I am looking forward to working with you as a member of the Executive Committee and, of course, as a Foundation Board member.”

The appointment comes at a time when the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) has been working with Kenya’s Sports Ministry to combat the country’s escalating doping incidences. Athletes from Kenya have been banned for using performance-enhancing substances.

Humphrey’s appointment to the WADA Executive Committee is considered as a planned move to boost Kenya’s persistent campaign and fight against vice.

Kayange’s appointment, according to NOCK President Paul Tergat, demonstrates the enormous heights Kenyan sportsmen may reach when given the chance.

“NOCK honours him as a genuine example of how far our athletes can go if they empower themselves in all areas,” Tergat added. Kayange’s nomination, according to NOC-K Secretary General Francis Mutuku, is timely.

“NOC-K continues to work closely with the local anti-doping agency, ADAK, to test and educate our athletes and stakeholders on the importance of clean sport.” “It’s a target that we regard as an absolute minimum,” Mutuku added.

Team Kenya’s residential training camp for the 2018 Commonwealth Games is already in its second week, during which ADAK has organized three clusters of education programmes starting June 1, 2022.

WADA’s Executive Committee (ExCo) and Foundation Board (Board) had their first meetings of 2022 in Cairo, Egypt, on May 18 and 19.

Khayange was just awarded the Order of the Golden Warrior at the presidential honours ceremony. He is also the CEO of Team Kenya for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
