Aniq Kasdan won by setting a new Games record of 142kg because the Indian could only lift 135kg in the clean and jerk.

After the snatch at the National Exhibition Centre, the 20-year-old (107 kg) was originally lagging India’s Sanket Mahadev Sargar (113 kg).

With a total weight of 225 kg, Sri Lanka’s Dilanka Isuru Kumara Yodage came in third.

After winning silver at the 2021 World Weightlifting Championships and bronze at the 2021 Southeast Asian Games, Aniq entered the competition as one of the medal favorites.

In Birmingham, England, the Malaysian Weightlifting Federation (MWF) aimed for one gold and two silver medals.
