Denesh Ramdin quits international cricket

Denesh Ramdin played 74 Tests, 139 ODIs and 71 T20Is for West Indies.
He will still play franchise cricket not yet he found any team.

The wicketkeeper and batter Denesh Ramdin, who used to be captain of the West Indies, has announced that he will stop playing international cricket right away.

“It is with great pleasure that I announce my retirement from international cricket,” Ramdin, who last played for West Indies in a T20I in December 2019, said on Instagram. “The past 14 years have been a dream come true. I fulfilled my childhood dreams by playing cricket for Trinidad and Tobago, and the West Indies.

“My career afforded me the opportunity to see the world, make friends from different cultures and still be able to appreciate where I came from.”

Ramdin said that he will still play for a franchise, though. He has played for Guyana Amazon Warriors, St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots, and Trinbago Knight Riders from 2013 to 2021, but he hasn’t found a team for the next CPL season. He also played in the PSL for Multan Sultans in 2017 and 2018.

Ramdin played 74 Tests, 139 ODIs, and 71 T20Is for his country. His first international match was in July 2005 against Sri Lanka in Colombo. Later in the tour, in a series between the three teams, he played his first ODI against India.

He helped West Indies win the T20 World Cup in 2012 and again in 2016. In the first, he didn’t get to bat much in seven games, but he got six people out from behind the stumps. In the second, he wasn’t very good in front of the wickets, scoring 36 runs in six games over four innings at a strike rate of 69.23, and he was responsible for three dismissals behind the wickets.

Ramdin has been forgotten by the people who choose the national team as of late. The last time he played in a Test or ODI was in 2016.
