Damian Willoughby sacked for sending inappropriate messages
Chelsea’s marketing director Damian Willoughby was fired for “inappropriate messages” he sent to a female football finance agent.
Before he joined the club last month, Willoughby sent Catalina Kim some inappropriate SMS.
Chelsea confirmed that it had fired commercial director Damian with immediate effect, according to a club representative.
“The club has recently been given evidence of inappropriate texts exchanged by Mr. Willoughby, prior to his hiring at Chelsea FC earlier this month, and is looking into it.
Although they were sent before he started working at the club, such behavior is utterly at odds with the corporate culture and work environment that the club’s new owners are establishing.
Willoughby began a second tenure at the club last month after an investor group led by billionaire Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital purchased it.
At Chelsea, Willoughby worked from 2007 to 2010. He has also worked with EA Sports and Manchester City. But he was let off from the job after just one month.
