On Saturday, the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, one of two locations for the current T20 Asia Cup 2022 in the United Arab Emirates, made history by becoming the site for the majority of international matches.

This honor was previously held by the Sydney Cricket Ground. A total of 281 games, including 9 Tests, 244 ODIs, and 28 T20Is, have taken place in Sharjah.

Abdul Rahman Bukhatir expressed his gratitude to the thousands of spectators who have been enjoying the game here for the past 40 years upon obtaining this honor: “It is a really joyous time and we are grateful to all of them.”

At this point, it should be noted that the current Asia Cup game between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka set numerous records.

In a T20I match against Afghanistan, Sri Lanka chased the most run ever at the venue and the highest chase ever.
