Dushmantha Chameera and Lahiru Kumara of Sri Lanka will go to Australia for the T20 World Cup with a team that is much the same as the one that won the island nation’s unexpected Asia Cup, selectors announced on Friday.

In order to make way for the more experienced pair, Matheesha Pathirana and Asitha Fernando, who made their tournament debuts in Dubai last month, were removed from the 15-man roster.

Due to their respective injuries, Chameera and Kumara would only play if they are fully healthy, according to a statement from Sri Lanka Cricket.

For the competition, which begins on October 16, Ashen Bandara and Praveen Jayawickrama will fly to Australia as backups.

Due to political upheaval, Sri Lanka had to cancel its intentions to host the Asia Cup.

With a dominating 23-run victory over Pakistan on Sunday, they won the event after an ugly opening loss to Afghanistan.
