Mohammad Rizwan, a wicketkeeper and batter from Pakistan, was named the September 2022 ICC player of the month on Monday.

India’s Axar Patel and Australia’s up-and-coming all-rounder Cameron Green were also up for the award, but Rizwan beat them both.

Rizwan is the best T20I batter right now, and he has been on a great run with the bat over the past month.

Rizwan played 10 games and got seven fifty-point scores. He hit over 70 runs twice in the Asia Cup, against Hong Kong and India.

He finished the tournament with 281 runs in six games, including three fifties, which was the most of anyone.

He also had the most runs (316), including four half-centuries, in the home series against England that just ended.

On winning the award, an elated Rizwan said: “I would like to thank Almighty Allah and express my heartfelt delight to all that enabled me to achieve this award.

“I want to give my high appreciation to all my teammates as they made things easy for me. These achievements boost your confidence. I am happy with my performance and I would like to take this momentum forward in Australia.

“I would like to dedicate this award to the people in Pakistan who are affected by the floods and climate change. Hopefully, this will bring smiles on their faces. “
