Rishabh Pant, an Indian wicketkeeper-batter, has spoken out about playing Pakistan ahead of their explosive T20 World Cup 2022 match, stating there is a “special excitement” around the match.

The hitter said: “Playing against Pakistan is always unique because there is usually a lot of anticipation for that match. There are a lot of mixed feelings, not just for ourselves but also for the fans and everyone else.”

“When you enter the playing field and notice spectators cheering here and there, it creates a new sensation and atmosphere. I truly got goosebumps when performing our national anthem because of the unusual mood “On the website of the International Cricket Council (ICC), Rishabh Pant was reported as saying.

Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam successfully chased down India’s score of 151-7 without losing any wickets to give Pakistan a convincing 10-wicket victory at the Dubai International Stadium on October 26 in their T20 World Cup matchup from the previous year.

In the 2017 World Cup, Pant made an important contribution as he added 53 runs to the total with the then-skipper Virat Kohli en route to his 39-run knockoff 30 balls. Additionally, the 25-year-old remembered hitting two maximums off bowler Hasan Ali.

“I have fond memories of hitting Hasan Ali for two sixes in the same over. We just wanted to increase the run rate because we lost early wickets and Kohli and I formed a relationship. I hit him for two sixes with one hand as we upped the run rate—my that’s a unique shot,” Pant remarked.

In India’s T20 Asia Cup 2022 match against Pakistan on August 28, the wicketkeeper sat out. On September 4, he was given the opportunity to participate in the second Asian tournament match, when he scored 14 runs off of 12 balls.

At the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Pakistan will play India in the T20 World Cup first match on Sunday.
