Namibia defeated Sri Lanka in the T20 World Cup 2022 opening game recently. Has the team ever defeated a Test-playing nation? South African Henning Jansen was questioned.

The current T20 World Cup got off to a remarkable start with Namibia’s convincing 55-run victory over Sri Lanka at Geelong over the weekend. In their 39th official T20I, they won for the 27th time. However, 22 of the previous 26 were against teams that did not play in Test matches. Namibia did defeat Zimbabwe 3-0 earlier this year in a series in Bulawayo, and they did defeat Ireland at the most recent T20 World Cup in Sharjah a year ago.

The men of Namibia have participated in 29 official ODIs. They have lost 15, and they have won 14, but none of the victories was over nations that participate in Test matches. They have beaten Nepal twice, Papua New Guinea twice, the United States three times, and Oman five times.

The previous day, in a T20Is match against Bangladesh, New Zealand ran 19 twos. Is this a T20 innings record for the number of twos? asked Bangladeshi Rezman Rahman Sadid.

New Zealand’s hitters were so overworked last week in Christchurch when they defeated Bangladesh by a score of 208 for 5.

The first thing to note is that we don’t have ball-by-ball information for every T20I, but the maximum we can infer from the data we do have is a Gibraltar innings against Bulgaria in Marsa (Malta) in October 2021 (217 for 4) that had 30 twos.

In comparison, Jersey (141 for 7) against Oman in Abu Dhabi in October 2019 and Romania (209 for 6) vs. Bulgaria in Ilfov in October 2020 both had 25 twos in their respective innings against Papua New Guinea (216 for 4) and the Philippines (216 for 4) in Port Moresby, respectively. 24 twos were part of Scotland’s 189 for 3 versus Hong Kong in Abu Dhabi in January 2017.

The most looks to be 21 twos, which were scored by Pakistan (189 for 6) against Sri Lanka in Johannesburg during the first T20 World Cup in September 2007 and by India (200 for 3) vs. Australia in Sydney in January 2016 in a match between two Test-playing teams.

In all three international formats, Dawid Malan has a century and a wicket. How many people have succeeded in this? David Dunford from the United States was questioned.

Only seven individuals, including Dawid Malan of England, have scored a century and claimed at least one wicket across all three international formats. The other players are Tillakaratne Dilshan of Sri Lanka, Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma of India, Glenn Maxwell and Shane Watson of Australia, Suresh Raina and Chris Gayle of the West Indies. England’s captain Heather Knight is the only woman with the necessary skills.

Twenty men have already accomplished the feat of scoring a century in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, but Knight is the only woman to date. The only person to score a century and take a wicket in the same game in all three forms is Shane Watson.

Ben Duckett faced Pakistan in each of his first eight T20I matches. Anyone who can match this? Pakistani Muhammad Zaeem was questioned.

You are correct that Pakistan was the opponent in each of Ben Duckett’s eight T20I matches prior to this World Cup. Will Young of New Zealand is the only other player with eight, and all eight of his T20 International matches have been against Bangladesh. The South African Janneman Malan, who played his first nine T20 Internationals against Pakistan before taking on Ireland, is, however, ahead of both of them.

Many players, mostly from the smaller countries, had their first seven T20I matches against the same opponent. Shan Masood, playing for Pakistan versus England, is the only one from a nation that participates in Test matches.

Who has participated in the most T20 matches, as Roelof van der Merwe is moving near to 300? asking Englishman Tom McCormick

In their debut match at the 2022 T20 World Cup in Geelong, Netherlands narrowly defeated UAE. This was Roelof van der Merwe’s 281st senior T20 match.

It’s a big figure, but it’s not even close to the top of the chart, which is held by Kieron Pollard, who has now appeared in 614 matches overall and has played in more than twice as many T20 cricket games. Dwayne Bravo, a fellow West Indian, has played 556 games, Shoaib Malik 481, Chris Gayle 463 games, and Sunil Narine 435 games.

There are 37 players with more over 300 T20 matches completed, including Ryan ten Doeschate, a South African-born Dutchman who played 382. Ravi Bopara (429), Andre Russell (428), David Miller (404), and Rohit Sharma (401) are also over 400.
