Shamarh Brooks has replaced Nkrumah Bonner in the ongoing first Test against Australia at Perth Stadium due to a concussion, Cricket West Indies (CWI) stated on Friday.

On the third day of the Test match, Bonner was forced from the field after being struck in the helmet by all-rounder Cameron Green’s nasty bounce. He and captain Kraigg Brathwaite shared a 28-run second-wicket partnership while batting at 16 off of 47 balls.

“I hope he’s all right. We’re hearing that he’s feeling lightheaded. Green delivered that brutal blow, which is not a good sight “In his analysis, Mark Howard said.

At first, it was decided that Bonner could go on. However, he ultimately had to retire due to injury, and Brooks had to be brought in as a replacement due to his concussion.

“It probably wasn’t short enough to get under, and it’s got him right on the bottom of the back of the helmet. That would have really stung him. That can often happen, you start to feel dizzy or a bit nauseous after the blow,” added Mark Waugh.

A half-century was reached in Tagenarine Chanderpaul’s first Test batting for the West Indies after facing 79 balls and hitting seven boundaries and one six.

The left-hander, who is the prodigal son of famous West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul, had to withstand a stern test from Australia’s bowling attack while displaying his tenacity and skill to reach fifty before being removed by Josh Hazlewood.
