Dasun Shanaka, fast bowler and all-around player, will serve as the captain of the 20-person Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Committee team for the upcoming trip of India, which will begin on January 3.

Kusal Mendis, a batter, and Wanindu Hasaranga, a leg-spinner all-arounder, have been named vice-captains of the ODI and T20I teams, respectively, in what appears to be a change in the leadership structure.

Nuwanidu Fernando, a right-handed batsman who has never played for Sri Lanka but who scored 211 runs in eight innings in the 2022 Lanka Premier League, has been called up for ODIs, while Bhanuka Rajapaksa, a powerful left-handed batter, has been selected just for the T20I part of the tour.

After missing the final due to injury, Avishka Fernando, who finished first in the 2022 Lanka Premier League and was named player of the match, is back in the lineup. Sadeera Samarawickrama, who finished second in the competition in runs scored and won Player of the Tournament, was also chosen for the team.

Chamika Karunaratne, a pace all-rounder who was given a one-year suspended ban by the SLC for breaching a contract during the Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, has earned a spot in both squads. Nuwan Thushara, a right-arm fast bowler who recorded the most Sri Lankan bowler wickets in the Lanka Premier League with 14, was chosen for the T20 Internationals.

Three Twenty20 Internationals between Sri Lanka and India will be played at Rajkot, Pune, and Mumbai starting on January 3. (January 7). Three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) are scheduled to follow it in Guwahati (January 10), Kolkata (January 12), and Thiruvananthapuram (January 15).

Squad: Dasun Shanaka (captain), Pathum Nissanka, Avishka Fernando, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Kusal Mendis (Vice Captain for ODIs), Bhanuka Rajapaksa (Only for T20Is), Charith Asalanka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Wanindu Hasaranga (Vice Captain for T20Is), Ashen Bandara, Maheesh Theekshana, Jeffrey Vandersay (Only for ODIs), Chamika Karunaratne, Dilshan Madushanka, Kasun Rajitha, Nuwanidu Fernando (Only for ODIs), Dunith Wellalage, Pramod Madushan, Lahiru Kumara, and Nuwan Thushara (Only for T20Is).
