The hosts had to score 157 runs when play started on day four in order to level the series and complete their second-highest successful run chase.

On day 4, though, England took their final six wickets in just two sessions, winning the match and the series.

Babar mentioned his innings against Australia in March 2022, when he delivered a match-saving 196-run knock in Karachi to enable Pakistan rescue a draw in the second Test, in response to his criticisms.

Following the match’s loss, Babar spoke at a press conference and said: “They claim that if I play well, it was a simple task for me to complete. They will claim that he did little in a difficult circumstance if I don’t perform. I was the one that took the field in the game with Australia.”

He managed just one run in the second innings while scoring 75 runs in the first.

Ollie Robinson twice inflicted defeat on Babar by taking his wicket. He was clean bowled in the second innings after leaving a delivery that rattled dreadfully off the ground.

The batter referred to Mohammad Nawaz’s ouster and the contentious departure of Saud Shakeel as the game’s turning moment.

“Saud’s dismissal was expensive for us. We felt that the ball had touched the ground. But the decision of the umpire has to be accepted as the final decision. As professionals, we have to accept the decisions and rules of the umpires. We got out because of our own mistakes, and we are responsible,” he said.

“We made mistakes when we could have won. We didn’t finish again against England. We should have finished well. The dismissal of the two best batters in succession today made the difference,” he added.

The 28-year-old also praised debutant spinner Abrar Ahmed, who grabbed 11 wickets.

“Abrar Ahmed did well and had a total transformation. I’m glad the little cricketer got some wickets “Finally, he said.

The National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi will host the third and final Test of the three-match series from December 17 to 21.
