After 20 tense minutes, the game proceeded into overtime. Kylian Mbappe struck twice in two minutes to rescue a 2-2 tie with Argentina after 90 minutes and force extra time. Mbappe led France’s comeback after the team appeared toothless. Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria scored for Argentina in the first half, but Mbappe sparked France’s comeback.

Messi scored his sixth goal of the tournament before halftime, and Angel Di Maria scored on a counterattack to put Argentina up 2-0 over France. Argentina lead France before halftime.
